Vessels moored at Malé’s North Harbour must be removed by 11:00 pm on Friday, 2 October 2026, as the government prepares to begin developing the jetties in the area, the Infrastructure Ministry has announced.
In a notice, the ministry said construction work is set to begin on the jetties as part of efforts to resolve the difficulties people face in using the North Harbour.
The removal order covers all vessels moored along the stretch from the Fishermen’s Park area to Naadhee Goalhi. The ministry warned that any vessels still in the area after the deadline will be removed by the ministry.
The jetty development comes as several major infrastructure projects get underway along Malé’s northern waterfront, including the ongoing widening of Boduthakurufaanu Magu and the planned relocation of the Malé Commercial Harbour to Thilafushi.
