The Malé City Council has announced the closure of lagoon areas along the northern side of the capital, from the Hulhumale Ferry Terminal to the Izzudeen Jetty, as part of the construction work for the Boduthakurufaanu Magu development project.

According to the council, road construction will begin this Saturday, and the closure will begin in phases.

The stretch from Henveiru Ferry Terminal to Fishermen’s Park will remain closed until construction is completed. The area from Fishermen’s Park to Jetty No. 5 will be closed from 30 March, while the section from Jetty No. 5 to Izzudeen Jetty will close from 17 April.

The project involves extending the harbour quay wall outward to widen Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The council has advised vessels not to dock in the affected zones, which are commonly used by atoll ferries and speedboats.
