Kulhudhuffushi City has received its first direct cargo vessel from Tuticorin. The arrival marks a new step in strengthening trade links between the northern Maldives and southern India.
Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) reported that the VB Progress arrived on Friday carrying 127 tonnes of goods. The cargo includes construction materials for STO and food items for a private importer. The voyage marks the launch of a scheduled monthly service aimed at streamlining supply chains for businesses in the region.
MPL said the route will be expanded as cargo demand grows. MPL added that the initiative is part of efforts to enhance regional port operations and create more efficient maritime connections across the atolls.
