Qatar Announces New Industry Event in 2025

Qatar is aiming to solidify its position as a global maritime leader with the announcement of a new industry event, Seatrade Maritime Qatar. The event, scheduled for February 4th and 5th, 2025, at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, will showcase the country’s growing maritime sector and its significance to the national economic diversification strategy.

This initiative comes as Qatar strives to expand its non-hydrocarbon sectors. Mwani Qatar, the event’s Founding Strategic Partner, emphasizes the maritime industry’s crucial role in achieving this goal. Mwani Qatar highlights impressive statistics showcasing the sector’s recent growth:

  • A 12% increase in container handling compared to the first half of 2023.
  • A 23% surge in port activity in June 2024 compared to June 2023.
  • A remarkable 51% increase in container handling during June 2024.

Seatrade Maritime Qatar will serve as a platform for international companies to explore business opportunities in Qatar, while Qatari companies can connect and promote themselves on a global stage. The two-day event will feature an exhibition alongside a world-class conference program focusing on key industry trends:

  • Sustainable and green shipping practices, including green fuels and emission controls.
  • Digital transformation in the maritime sector, exploring the role of digitalization, AI, and blockchain.
  • The application of AI in maritime operations, encompassing autonomous shipping, smart ports, and weather forecasting.

Chris Morley, Group Director of Seatrade Maritime, the event organizers, expressed confidence in the event’s contribution to Qatar’s National Vision 2030 goals. With their extensive experience in the maritime industry and established events worldwide, Seatrade Maritime Qatar promises to be a significant step forward for Qatar’s maritime ambitions.
