MTCC Partners with Ministry for Olhuvelifushi Harbor Project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has officially inked an agreement with the Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure to initiate the Lh. Olhuvelifushi Harbor Development Project.

At a ceremony attended by MP Abdul Ghani, COO Shahid Hussain Moosa represented MTCC, while Ms. Fathimath Shaana Farooq, Director-General, signed on behalf of the Ministry.

This agreement marks a significant step towards providing improved docking facilities for local residents and addressing the challenges encountered during boat arrivals and departures.

  1. Maintenance dredging operations totaling 7,534 cubic meters.
  2. New harbor basin dredging operations amounting to 19,857 cubic meters.
  3. Channel dredging operations, accounting for 14,160 cubic meters.
  4. The construction of a 164-meter revetment.
  5. A 172-meter breakwater.
  6. A 156-meter sand-filled breakwater outer revetment.
  7. A 156-meter sand-filled breakwater inner revetment.
  8. A 246-meter quay wall.
  9. An 11-meter by 11-meter ramp.
  10. A 27-meter by 5-meter bridge.
  11. A 132-meter by 2-meter jetty.
  12. A 1,149-square-meter pavement.
  13. Installation of navigational and harbor lights.

The project is anticipated to be completed in December 2024 and comes with a budget of MVR 66.40 million.
