Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) is set to open its doors to a new generation of aspiring maritime professionals with an educational Port Open Day. Aimed at school students aged 13 to 18, the event promises an immersive experience into the maritime industry’s inner workings.
Scheduled to take place on 14th October 2023, the Port Open Day offers a unique opportunity for young individuals to gain firsthand insights into the world of maritime operations. MPL has curated a diverse program to engage and educate participants:
Port Tour: Participants will embark on a comprehensive tour of the port, providing them with a close-up view of cargo handling and operational procedures. This hands-on experience promises to demystify the complexities of port logistics.
Safety and Security Drills: Safety is paramount in the maritime industry. Attendees will have the chance to learn about and participate in safety and security drills, ensuring they understand the regulatory safety protocols crucial for port operations.
Interactive Displays and Equipment Demos: MPL will showcase an array of machinery and equipment used in port activities. Interactive displays and equipment demonstrations will allow participants to explore the technology and tools vital to the maritime sector.
Simulator Games and ICT Activities: A highlight of the event is the inclusion of simulator games and a range of information and communication technology (ICT) activities. These engaging experiences will provide insights into the digital aspects of modern port management.
The Port Open Day will be conducted in two sessions to accommodate participants’ schedules:
- Morning Session: 8:00 AM – 12:45 PM
- Afternoon Session: 12:00 PM – 4:15 PM
