Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) carried out its annual International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code security exercise today at the Hulhumalé International Terminal.
The multi-agency exercise was led jointly by MPL’s Health and Safety Department and Security Services Department. It aimed to test, evaluate, and strengthen established security procedures, emergency response mechanisms, and communication channels across maritime operations.
The operation was conducted in close collaboration with key national security and emergency response bodies. Including Maldives National Defence Force, Maldives Customs Service, Hulhumalé Police, Hulhumalé Hospital, and Maldivian Red Crescent.
During the exercise, participating agencies simulated real-time response scenarios to review operational coordination and ensure seamless collaboration among emergency responders and port personnel.
MPL confirmed that such regular drills are vital to maintaining international safety standards, enhancing port resilience, and ensuring total readiness to protect critical maritime infrastructure against potential security threats.
