Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has awarded a construction contract to SASe Construction Private Limited to develop a yacht marina in Haa Alif Uligan.
The first phase of the project involves developing a marina capable of accommodating up to 18 vessels. The facility is also expected to provide immigration and customs services.
MPL signed the project memorandum of understanding with the Uligan Council in August 2024.
The development will offer berthing, service, and hospitality infrastructure, positioning the area as a key stopover and contributing to wider economic and tourism development through the region.
Uligan is located near the northern tip of the country and lies along major yachting routes between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
MPL stated that it is currently seeking a party to operate the marina and further develop the facility.
