A man who went missing from a fishing boat was found ashore on an island this morning.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the incident occurred in Haa Dhaalu Atoll while the fishing vessel Bahuru was engaged in fishing operations. The crew reported the man missing to the MNDF Coast Guard shortly after 4:00 a.m.
While the Coast Guard was searching for the missing man, he was found washed ashore on the southern beach of Hondaafushi, a resort island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. He was discovered by a dinghy team involved in the search about two hours after the initial report.
He was immediately taken to Hanimaadhoo Health Centre for treatment. According to the MNDF, the health centre confirmed that his condition is now stable.
MNDF has not yet released any further details regarding the missing person involved in this incident.
