Effective 26 January 2026, pilotage services at Malé Commercial Harbour is available 24 hours a day for all calling vessels, with the long-standing restriction on entries between 00:00 and 06:00 hours officially lifted.
Since 1988, merchant vessels arriving during overnight hours have been required to wait until morning to enter the port. With round-the-clock access to the Port Limit Area now in place, vessels may enter at any time, supported by continuous pilotage services, 24/7 security monitoring, and full compliance with ISPS requirements.

This operational enhancement significantly reduces waiting times, lowers vessel operating costs, and improves trade efficiency. It also marks a key step in positioning Malé Commercial Port as a modern maritime gateway aligned with international best practices.
By enabling uninterrupted port operations, the initiative reinforces Malé Commercial Port’s role as the nation’s primary maritime hub, strengthening trade facilitation and advancing globally compliant port services.
