Maldives Sets Sail for the Third ‘Savaadheetha Dhathuru’ Yacht Rally

The Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has unveiled the eagerly awaited third edition of the ‘Savaadheetha Dhathuru’ yacht rally, charting its course on February 10th, 2024. This esteemed sailing spectacle is poised to welcome seafarers from around the world to the idyllic waters of the Maldives.

Themed ‘Maldives: Small Country with a Big Heart,’ inspired by a participant’s poignant remark from the previous year, the rally has already secured ten boats and aims to embrace up to fifteen. The event promises a distinctive voyage through local islands, immersing participants in the vibrant tapestry of Maldivian culture and traditions.

Kicking off at Kudagiri Picnic Island with an opening ceremony, the rally will navigate through various islands such as V. Fulidhoo, M. Muli, and the tranquil L. Baresdhoo for a picnic. The challenging Huvadhoo Kandu Channel will be conquered, with stops at Ga. Kolamaafushi and Gdh. Hoan’dehdhoo, culminating in S. Hithadhoo and S. Gan for a Gala Night, celebrating the triumphant conclusion of the event.

The ‘Savaadheetha Dhathuru’ aims to fuse the local community with the tourism sector, promoting Local Island Tourism, Culture & Heritage Tourism, and Nautical Tourism. With support from island councils and communities, participants are guaranteed an authentic local experience.

Endorsed by various ministries and backed by entities such as MTCC, Visit Maldives, and HDC, the rally enjoys widespread support. The Main Sponsor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), stands strong for the third consecutive year, with Visit Maldives as the Destination Partner and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) as the Hosting Partner. Notable supporters include STELCO, STO, MPL, MTDC, Maldivian, and Voyages Maldives.
