Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially launched the Maldives National Logistics service, aimed at strengthening the country’s supply chain and improving the movement of goods nationwide. The service was inaugurated at Marine Expo 2026, held at Hulhumalé Central Park, by Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer.

The initiative is designed to integrate loading, warehousing, and delivery operations into a single coordinated system, enhancing efficiency, reducing delays, and lowering overall logistics costs for businesses and consumers. Speaking to state media, Minister Zameer highlighted the Maldives’ need for more reliable and efficient logistics arrangements, noting that the service would ease operational burdens for businesses, particularly those relying on imported equipment and supplies.
MPL outlined several key features of the service:
- A domestic transshipment facility enabling containers arriving at Malé Commercial Harbour to be transported directly to atoll ports.
- A commercial warehousing facility under development in Thilafushi.
- Streamlined procedures to improve cargo transfers from Malé Harbour to Velana International Airport, enhancing sea-to-air cargo operations.
- Construction of a new landing craft, expected to become operational within eight months, to expand operational capacity further.
To expand operational capacity, MPL is also constructing a new landing craft, expected to be operational within eight months. The Government aims to consolidate these logistics services into a single national network by year-end, offering a comprehensive solution across the Maldives.
The Maldives National Logistics Service has been established as a standalone provider to support MPL’s logistics expansion. Operations under the Government’s ‘Anchor’ project were transferred to MPL in December 2025 to ensure long-term sustainability of national logistics services.
