Maldives Customs Boosts Risk Management Skills

The Maldives Customs Service announced the successful completion of a five-day training program on Integrated Risk Management (IRM) for Customs Administrations. The program, organized by the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Capacity Development and IMF South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC), took place from April 22nd to 26th in New Delhi, India.

Six Maldivian customs officers participated in the training, which aimed to equip customs administrations with the skills necessary to implement an effective IRM approach. This approach strengthens customs controls while also promoting voluntary compliance among economic operators and facilitating trade.

The IMF’s capacity development programs play a vital role in supporting countries like the Maldives in enhancing their customs operations. By adopting IRM, the Maldives Customs Service can improve its efficiency in identifying and managing risks, leading to a more secure and business-friendly trade environment.
