Captain Abdullah Saeed, former Managing Director of Maldives State Shipping (MSS), has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of State Trading Organization (STO) plc.
The decision was made by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on 4th April, following former MD Hussain Amru’s dismissal on 26th March. PCB’s President, Asim Mohamed presented the Letter of Appointment to Saeed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance on the same day. According to PCB, the appointment complies with the law on Privatization, corporatization, monitoring and Evaluation of Government businesses.
Prior to his tenure in MSS, Saeed has also served as the Manager and Director of Business Development of V Global Trading (Singapore) Private Limited; the Chairman and CEO of the Maldives National Oil Company; and the Chairman and Managing Director of STO Maldives (Singapore) Private Limited.
